Tassie Wants helps people connect; it does not inspect items, verify every member or handle payments. Take your time and trust your instincts.
Meet and inspect safely
- Use a public, well-lit daytime location when possible.
- Inspect the item before paying, and bring someone with you for valuable items.
- Use your own payment method only after you are satisfied. Do not pay deposits to “hold” an item unless you are completely comfortable with the arrangement.
Stop if something feels wrong
- Pressure to pay quickly, move off-platform, or share a verification code is a warning sign.
- Gift cards, cryptocurrency, unexpected bank-transfer links and “courier fee” requests are common scam patterns.
- Use Report conversation or Block contact in messages. If you are in immediate danger, call 000.
Safety prompts are reminders to slow down—not findings that someone has done anything wrong.
Privacy
We collect only what is needed to run Tassie Wants and keep the pilot safe.
What we collect
- Your account details, such as name, email address and chosen town.
- The wants, offers, messages, photos and business details you choose to add.
- Safety reports and contact-exchange or handover preferences when you use those features.
How it is used
- To run your account, show your public want, connect you with relevant offers and administer the service.
- To review new wants, approve businesses, respond to reports, prevent misuse and improve the pilot.
- To send account or optional alert emails when you have asked for them.
Who can see it
- Public wants show the information you place in them. Do not include personal contact or exact-address details.
- Offers and messages are visible to the people in that conversation. Administrators may review a conversation if it is reported for moderation.
- Your contact details remain hidden until both people choose the mutual contact exchange.
Your choices
You can update your profile details in My account, turn optional alerts off, or ask us to correct information. If you believe your privacy has been affected, use the safety/report tools so the pilot administrator can review it.
This pilot does not sell personal information. We will update this page if the way Tassie Wants handles personal information changes.
